Elation at the finish line…

boston1

As I wake up to Good Friday, Facebook so kindly and gently reminds me of the significance of this weekend.  Scrolling through the ‘On This Day’ memories my emotions are all over the place.  Funny how that happens!  Embedded within the memories is this verse: John 14. 27:  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

God is so good.  He knows that my heart is troubled as the memories of Boston 2013 flood back into my mind but He also knows He provides the ultimate peace for these times. What a picture that provides for me on this – Good Friday.

This picture is a true visual of His unshakeable love for us.  Sadness prevailed as His son was crucified and died for our sins on Good Friday – BUT – Sunday was coming.  Do not let your hearts be troubles and do not be afraid!!!   Why? Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you! I do not give you as the world gives you!  HE is GOD! He offers more than this world could ever give – ETERNITY!

As I relive the memories and the emotions coming flooding back – I have to remember I have an unshakeable God who will give me peace through all things.  The world cannot and will not take me down because HE died to bring me up!

What an amazing journey God has gifted me with and allowed me to live through.  His never-ending love and peace carried me through as He does daily.  My Boston story from beginning to end has too many happy moments to even count.  It has scary and sad moments sprinkled through with joy and elation at the finish line.  He allowed me to experience emotions – and still does – that bring me back to Him.  That point to the fact that SUNDAY is coming! Through the death and resurrection of His son Jesus Christ – we are made whole again! We have nothing to fear! The day we thought was so very bad brings us to the joy and elation at the finish line!

My finish line on earth cannot and will not ever compare to the finish line in heaven!

Romans 10.9-10
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

I hate wet socks!

What do wet socks have to do with CHRISTmas? Well, a lot in our world. 🙂  God used a single wet sock to start the trail of details that showed us He is with us and cares about the small details of our lives! 🙂

It all started this morning before we were about to do our small Christmas.  Cleo – our calico kitty – played the part of the kids.  She started pawing at our door when she thought it was time for us to mosey out of bed. We abided.  Once up, we needed coffee.  Our simple routine kicked into gear.  Mike made the coffee and I threw Christmas cinnamon rolls in the oven.  It was at this point I decided we needed festive Christmas music. My wireless speaker was in the the garage in my car.  So off to the garage I trot so we can open presents.  Mike is so excited. He can’t wait for me to open my gifts.  🙂

This is when the story really started –  I stepped in water that had pooled from the rain off the car and hence the wet sock.  Something had to be done!  The sock came off and I walked back inside headed for the bedroom to get another sock.  I hate WET socks!

Mike stopped me and would not let me get another sock.  I argued I need a sock – one foot is bare and cold.  No! He wanted me to sit down and open one of my presents. So I humored him – so I could get my sock! As I ripped the paper I notice one of my old shoe boxes…hmmmm.  Then to my surprise I found a new pair of house shoes…with SOFT material! (I am a texture person – so I LOVE the fuzzy stuff!)

The wet sock opened the door for this perfect gift! Mike noticed I am always in socks or flip flops and didn’t have any house shoes! Love it! (But, inside I was a little curious why he was so excited about this gift – because he didn’t know I was going to have a wet sock! But, God did!)

img_4648

My new feet warmers – I already have great leg warmers!

So, now that I was thinking…hmmmmm…that is the gift he is so excited about – he grabs another one.  As he tries to hand it to me I run outside to take a photo of the sunrise. (Photography is the one thing I LOVE – and wish I made more time for it.)  Mike is curious about what I am doing – but he figures it out! (Because I run outside and take photos – A LOT!)

img_4644

In I come and he hands me the gift.  I soon find out that this is the one he is so excited about!  This gift is small but heavy. As I am holding it I am thinking “it is really small but I bet he added weight to the box.” 😉  Ripping the paper open I see a Nikon box.  I say “Is this a camera?…No, this isn’t a camera….Is this really a camera?…Noooo…this can’t be a camera!”  But guess what? It was a CAMERA! God is that good.  He paved the way yet again for a PERFECT open door to my next gift. I had just stepped outside to take a picture with my phone and now I am opening a camera that my phone can’t hold a candle to….wow!

Needless to say – I LOVE IT and I am soooo excited to get busy taking photographs!!!! (Those will come soon – we are making some adjustments to the new purchase!)

img_4652

Not the camera – just a representation of THE camera!

Now it was Mike’s turn to open a gift.  But, he was so excited about my camera he wanted to research more on it.  I stopped him. He only had one more gift.  He persisted in doing research.  I said – stop, open this gift.  So, he did. 🙂 And God once again had paved the way – it was a photo I took years ago of the old barn put on a canvas.

fullsizerender-5

So in God’s amazing fashion He showed us how He truly cares about the details.  On this day we celebrate Jesus’s birth – a detail that created eternity for us all – He shows up in the simple things.  He does it daily but most of the time we forget to look for Him.

Mike and I looked at each other as he opened the canvas and were in awe of how God had made His presence known in our simple Christmas at home – just the two of us.  He confirmed that the ultimate present of His son was a detail we will forever be grateful.

This season has proven to many that life is short and we only have one to live.  God sent Jesus on this day thousands of years ago to save us – a small, yet eternal detail we can not ignore.  All we have to do is add the detail of belief!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3.16

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved

Romans 10:9

With all of this being said – I hope you have some wet sock moments where you are able to see the hand of God in every detail of your life! He is there. He cares. He wants to be a detail in your life – He will if only you believe!

Merry CHRISTmas!  Trish

Chicago Marathon Training – Week 1 Recap

I will start this blog with a funny! Several years ago a friend captured a photo of me finishing a race. It was ugly! I was running up a hill while trying to stay ahead of the 3rd place female….it was a battle! Boy – did he capture it in print.

306003_4499983010922_1875695563_n

Shortly there after, a running meme started circulating around the internet.  It was me! (Not really…but, boy it could have been!) This is when I thought, hmmmm, I need to do something about my form. LOL!

what-i-feel-like-when-running

I so thought I had it going on! I finished in second place…surely I had awesome form! NOT!!!!  I printed the two photos together as inspiration. It has taken me a while to get there…but I am making great strides.  I would say I really didn’t make it until these last 8 months.

Last year I gained entry into the  2014 Chicago Marathon and once I returned from Boston, I kept training.  But, I was running injured and stopped running in July.  The running had taken a toll on my body.  Since April 2013 I had run 4 marathons and was on track to do my 5th in two years…not that that was what I was going for at all…it was just how it worked out.  After a long run in California, I made the tough decision my body needed a break.  I would stop training and defer my Chicago training.

That was the best decision ever…for a couple of reasons!  First, instead of training alone I am now in this with the 3 others I mentioned in the previous posts.  We are in this together during the good runs and the bad ones.  Whether we are running together or virtually, we know we are in this with each other! Secondly, I found CrossFit which led me to CrossFit Endurance and Pose running.

My CrossFit coach had a Pose Running Seminar in September of 2014.  I hadn’t been running for a couple of months and thought it would be a good time to start back. Through this seminar I learned proper form and technique. Boy, I had it all wrong…as the above picture shows oh, so well!  I am still learning! Not growing up as an athlete, I was not used to skill work and drills.  I was familiar with it of course, just didn’t do it.  I just ran.   Now, it is a very important part of my training.  A VITAL PART!

This is all so encouraging to me because I was able to qualify for Boston twice with HORRIBLE form and technique.  Now, that I am running better…I can’t wait to see what is in store.  God has a plan! He knew, as He did with Boston, I needed a team to train with…and a great coach as well.  I have both!  A team that encourages me mentally, spiritually and physically! When I don’t want to go…they are there to hear me gripe and then they kick me out the door. 😉  Our coach knows our potential and pushes just enough! I am beyond excited.  Another thing that got me excited was comparing my oh so horrible picture to a recent race finish photo. As I said, I have come a long way…but, I am still a work in progress.

IMG_3401

Now to the week of training.

Tuesday – 10 x 200 meter repeats with 300 meter recovery – Not too bad…did it with Yoli and we got it done in our neck of the woods.  It is so awesome having her out there running her pace as I run mine!

Thursday -6 x 800 meter repeats with 2 minute rest – Not so much fun! Again, I met Yoli and we got it done.  I just don’t like 800 meter repeats. LOL! And 6 of them…yuck!

 IMG_3397

Friday – 5k @ 85% of 10k pace – I did this one alone.  Fun! Thanks to my sweet husband I have my new Garmin watch to help me stay on track.  The first .25 mile, the watch yelled at me continually.  I was either too fast or too slow. Finally, it stopped beeping and I found my groove and stayed on track the rest of the run.  I accomplished my target pace! So very thankful!

instagram

Saturday – 5k time trial – DIDN’T HAPPEN! Mentally I have such a hard time with time trials.  It is so hard for me to make race day pace without a race.  So, I looked for one all around the area to no avail. The closest was Knoxville and I just couldn’t justify it! So, I skipped it. Not really…I just put it off until Sunday when I knew Yoli would be able to run with me or should I say in front of me.  So Saturday’s run happened on Sunday. 🙂

How was it? It was okay.  It was hot.  It was humid.  It was, well it is done!

Here is the run report I sent to my coach:

Run 1 – 10 x 200 –
:50
:52
:53
:52
:51
:51
:49
:51
:59 – I don’t have a clue what happened here. 🙂
:48
Run 2 – 6 x 800 –
3:46 – slow getting started….
3:40
3:41
3:43
3:40
3:41
Run 3 – 5k @ 85% 10k pace – GOAL pace – 8:01-8:09 –  25:08 – PACE – 8:07
Run 4 – 5k time trial – 23:56 – 1 minute and 19 seconds slower than PR of 22:37
Time trials kick my butt mentally.  I have to learn how to power through them.  My hamstrings were really sore from workouts…excuses, excuses. 🙂  But ALL DONE!
WEEK ONE – is in the books! We are thrilled to be chipping away! I have had faster weeks, faster times…but each time, whether faster or slower is making me stronger and better! Today, Rick Warren tweeted a great quote: When setting a goal, what matters is not who you think YOU are, but rather who you think GOD is. My goal is to finish well! And I am sure His is the same!
2 Timothy 4.7
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Hebrews 12.1-2
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Do we have eternal eyes?

Do we look at things through the eyes of eternity?

He prepares for us a place! If we have accepted HIM in our hearts we can confidently say: “Our citizenship is in heaven!!”

How comforting is that? It is so very comforting to know Christ is preparing what is good for us…better than any good we could EVER imagine…in our heavenly home! The things we battle in this world are preparing us for our eternal home!

This conjures up all kinds of thoughts for me…Are we looking at life through the eyes of eternity? Are we sensitive to those around us and where their eternal citizenship may lie?

This past week I have had three different people close to me lose loved ones. These loved ones do not have another chance to determine their eternal home. They gained their eternal citizenship last week.  Did they hear the good news?  Are they experiencing the good Jesus has been preparing?  Did someone share with them the saving love of Jesus Christ?

Philippians 3.18-21

For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

John 14.1-4

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”

As I live comfortably with the assurance that my citizenship lies in heaven, am I burdened for those who may not be have that same assurance? My prayer should be as Hillsong’s song Hosanna states:  Break my heart for what breaks yours…

He wants all of us to see Him and fellowship with Him in the place He is preparing – Heaven! Are we reaching out to ensure our neighbors, our loved ones, our co-workers and others will have citizenship in heaven?  What is keeping us from sharing the BEST news ever????

i2 ~ Iron sharpens Iron

IMG_6745

i2 is not only the chemical formula for iodine it has also become a symbol of encouragement and love.  Like iodine, encouragement and love are essential to humans.  This symbol has very special meaning!

My brother first started using i2 as a part of his business logo while he was in Arkansas.  Not long after that  we were organizing the first Run with Trish 5k for Team Hoyt.  Rob’s company sponsored the race and we placed i2 on our t-shirts to represent his sponsorship.  Realizing the power of encouragement while running the roads I asked Rob if I could use i2 to encourage others in our running.  He said i2 is not mine but God’s. 🙂  So at that point, my running angels and I started using the symbol i2 to encourage one another on the roads.

i2 stands for iron sharpening iron as found in Proverbs 27.17.

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

In November 2012 of the Lord pressed upon my heart that I could use i2 to not only encourage running friends but everyone.  At this point I did not act on it.  Then the year 2013 hit me like a Peterbilt truck…:) (that’s for my brother!) I was the recipient of an overwhelming amount of encouragement and love.  i2 was lived out in my life through others…many of you! You all encouraged me through Boston 2013, through my mom’s accident and then through Mike’s accident.  There were times I felt like giving up and because of the overwhelming outpouring of love and encouragement I didn’t! God provided encouragement in ways I couldn’t have ever imagined.  Then today during my devotional I felt God pressing once again…”you have received much encouragement and sharpening, it is now your turn to give back.”

With all of this being said…I am acting on it!  I have built Facebook page called i2.  Go here to like and share: https://www.facebook.com/pages/i2/639734179417709?ref=hl  This page will be used to encourage God’s way! I will post daily scriptures from the best encourager we all have – our Lord and Savior. My goal is to write and post smaller snippets as my family continually encourages me to do. This page will be used for encouragement and sharpening for all of us through the Holy Word of God.  In this process I will continually pray that the Holy Spirit leads me….this page is about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ encouraging His children through one another.

Life is a journey.  This journey is one with ups and downs and we all need a little encouragement along the way.  I hope i2 will be a positive source of God’s encouragement for you during your journey of life.  Share with others and feel free to post your encouraging words with us.  We are not alone! Let’s….

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

A middle school lesson for this teacher…Wow!

images-10

A couple of weeks ago I was asked by one of my 8th grade students to be the adult sponsor of a student led Bible club.   This group wanted to meet before school once a week, but they needed an adult sponsor.  I joyfully accepted! There is nothing more exciting than Jesus…but kids wanting to learn more about Jesus and the Bible is pretty amazing. 🙂

Today was our first day.  It was so very encouraging!!!  Twelve 7th and 8th graders showed up and when asked why, most said “they want to know more about the Bible!” Wow! These kids are in middle school.  They are in the thick of it…for the record, I would never want to go back to those days…middle school is tough.  Tougher these days than in mine by far!

Each student vocalized their desire to pray and to start the day off right.  Again, wow! From the mouths of babes…to start the day off right. 🙂  I can already tell I will learn from this wonderful group of guys and girls.  God will be using them…I have no doubt!

How many of us take time to do what they are wanting to do and start the day off right with God’s word?  God even suggests doing so in His word:

Mark 1:35

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight,

He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed”

Psalm 5:3

“My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;

In the morning I will direct it to You,

And I will look up”

Psalm 63:1

“O God, You are my God;

Early will I seek You;

My soul thirsts for You;

My flesh longs for You

In a dry and thirsty land

Where there is no water”

How wise are these young ones? Very wise!   Read on:  One conversation we had this morning was trying to have a positive impact on others throughout the day.  I encouraged them to help each other do so.  I asked them how many of them had a Facebook page.  Then I asked them what happened on Facebook and one of them answered  – ‘drama!’  Another chimed in – ‘lots of drama!’  At this point, I shared with them that one of my ways to be positive is to try to encourage others through scripture on Facebook.  Daily I post scripture from my devotional.  The word of God lifts me up and helps me start my day off great…as the kids’ say.

One of my scriptures this morning was:

Psalm 107.19-20

19 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.

20 He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.

The devotion that went with it talked about how His word heals as it states in verse 20.  How many of us and how many of today’s youth are hurting and need a touch of heaven?  We can all have it through the healing that comes from His word.  These kids are reaching out and wanting to know more.  They are going through things I can’t even imagine…and God can bring healing!

Will you pray with me for these kids? Will you also take time to look around you and see how you can bless someone today?  We live in a world of ‘drama’…again in the kids’ words…so let’s help each other by being positive and shining His light. Let’s help by pointing them to the HEALING Word of God!

hebrews_11-1

Three months ago today, our lives were forever changed! The night before I turned my phone off when I went bed …which I NEVER do.  I  realized my charger was in the back of the house and was too lazy to get up and go get it.  It’s not like it is a long walk… Around 7:00 a.m. that Wednesday morning, June 12, Mike comes in and tells me dad is trying to getting in touch with me.  This is not all abnormal at this time.  I talked to daddy  in the morning often BUT it was summer and he knew I wasn’t on my way to school.  I shuttered! When I called him back I remember asking, “Is everything okay?” and his response was, “No!”

Most of you know the rest of the story!  Today is not a day to retell it.  Today is a day to praise the Lord for answered prayer! To praise the Lord for allowing us to be a part of a modern-day miracle! To praise the Lord for His hand of protection! To praise the Lord for His goodness…ALL the time! To praise Him for fulfilling scripture.

As mentioned before, my family’s life verse is Romans 8.28.

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

My personal life verse is Hebrews 11.1.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

I can say God has allowed me to live both of these verses out in ways I could not have imagined.  I have seen them lived out in ways I wanted and in ways only God wanted.  I know beyond a shadow of a doubt HIS will is the only way I want to live.   I know some days God and I will be on the same page.  I also know some days we won’t be.  I will ALWAYS want His way to prevail because I truly know in the long run that is what is best for my family and me.

On June 12, 2013 our prayers were specific and we knew what we wanted to see and we knew what we hoped for! We knew ALL would prevail according to His purpose but we were be a little picky this go around! The Lord was okay with that and thankfully HE was on the same page! I am not naive enough to know I could be writing a different story….but I am not! And can I tell you HOW very thankful I am for that???  God is so good! All the time! He would have been with our family no matter what and we are well aware of that fact.  I want to say I would still be singing Him praises then too….mixed in with a few bouts of other emotions as well! But that is okay, because today I will be singing(in private) and shouting His praises and His goodness all day long!

Today, three months from when it all changed on a dime in mom’s life…she will be released from physical therapy.  That means she is free to go…no more physical therapy, no more speech therapy and no more occupational! She is done! Woo hoo! She has been cleared to walk without assistance of any kind…no cane unless she feels more secure with it.  She has also been cleared to play GOLF! (as long as she rides in the cart!)

Three months to the day it all changed, God is showing us His hand of mercy! His hand of healing! His hand of love! And that His hand does still perform miracles!  God is so good! All the TIME…good times and bad times.  He can be trusted to turn your heartache into laughter – we had a lot of both this summer but some of the sweetest laughter EVER!  He can be trusted with your struggles…no matter how small or how big! He is a big God and He is a loving God. He can take it!

On June 12 when this all started for me, Mike encouraged me to go for a run. As you have seen over the last tree months running is therapeutic for me and he knew that.  I ran and screamed at God.  He took it.  I cried to Him.  He took it.  I prayed to Him. He took it! He knew my desires…but He also knew His plan.

And as I mentioned before, this time God and I were on the same page.  I didn’t know that on June 12.  I now know that on September 12.  God was working.  He was showing us and those who lived this journey….He is faithful! He is BIG! He answers prayer! He is merciful! He is in the miracle-working business! He is still working!  Mom is not due back to Springfield for follow-ups until November 1.  Until then, she will enjoy her time with dad playing golf, visiting with her many friends and some Razorback football. Woo Pig Sooie! 🙂

God is so very good all the time and I just had to shout it out over the world-wide web this morning!

Psalm 37.4

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

delight

God’s perfect timing…

god-has-perfect-timing-never-early-and-never-late-and-it-takes-a-little-patience-and-a-lot-of-faith-1This morning as I was getting ready I was listening to my music. Music has been so therapeutic for me over the past three months.  As I listened to the words it hit me again how perfect God’s timing truly is…  Then I remembered the devotion I read to the girls on the way to the marathon on Sunday…again perfect timing.  With all of this said, I felt led to post this song and this devotion from Jesus Calling for someone out there today:

You Make Everything Beautiful

Grant me serenity to accept things
The things I cannot change
Grant me the courage, Lord, to change what I can
Wisdom to know the difference
In my weakness You can shine
In Your strength I can fly and

You make everything, everything beautiful
You make everything, everything new
You make everything, everything beautiful
In its time, in Your time
It’s beautiful

Grant me serenity, Lord, and patience
For things will take time
Grant me freedom to walk a new path
And let me feel Your love
In my weakness You can shine
In Your strength I can fly and

Lifting open hands to You my Savior
Beautify my soul
Knowing You redeem my pain and failure
Purify my soul
Beautify my soul

September 1

Seek Me with your whole being. I desire to be found by you, and I orchestrate the events of your life with that purpose in mind. When things go well and you are blessed, you can feel Me smiling on you. When you encounter rough patches along your life-journey, trust that My Light is still shining upon you. My reasons for allowing these adversities may be shrouded in mystery, but My continual Presence with you is an absolute promise. Seek Me in good times; seek Me in hard times. You will find Me watching over you all the time.

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.
—Deuteronomy 4:29

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
—Hebrews 10:23

The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.
—Psalm 145:20

Positive news…

Mom’s speech issues have not yet resolved. She had another MRI yesterday and the results were once again normal.  The doctor came in this morning and said the MRI showed the blood is being reabsorbed in the brain.  This causes irritation and could be part of the problem.  They have also stopped one of her medications to see if that was part of problem.  The purpose of the medication was to keep her awake.  Therapy will do that today! She has  a full day ahead of her. 🙂  She is moving forward slowly but, she is moving forward! Thanks for your continued prayers!!!  We are learning to LGLG and be flexible…This is positive news! We are happy normal keeps coming back and healing is happening!

Once again my devotionals were very timely….20120424-213007.jpg

“Blessed are the flexible, for verily, they shall not be broken.”

Revelation 21.5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Luke 18.27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

Philippians 4.19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 37.3-4 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

I can…ONLY imagine!

We are currently traveling back from a glorious birthday weekend with my side of our wonderful family. The Lord has truly blessed Mike and me with an amazing family on both sides.  The Taylor clan and the Newsom clan are collectively the best group of people ever! I am biased but I would venture to say others would say the same. 🙂  Thank you Lord for surrounding my with people who love me unconditionally and make me a better person!!! (Thanks to my niece Lane we had amazing photos taken of the Taylor side in Indy by Courtney Venable….it was GREAT fun!)

Now to the real reason for this post…as we are driving down the interstate we are listening to Christian music.  Mike and I both are listening and singing along.  (For those of you who have heard both of us sing…you know HE is way better and I need to be listening and not singing. LOL!)  I CAN ONLY IMAGINE just played.  What a powerful song!!!  I will NEVER forget the first time I heard this song!

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE…Mercy Me

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By your side

I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When your face
Is before me
I can only imagine

[Chorus:]
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine

[Chorus]

I can only imagine [x2]

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you

What is so fitting for God’s timing in letting me hear and remember this is that I heard it first on a long run when I hadn’t been running long.  I was doing a long training run around White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas.  I was training for my first marathon.  At that time I was overtaken with emotion thinking about how I will respond when I meet our Lord and Savior.  I remember praising HIM with every step and being in awe of His saving grace when in NO way I deserved it!!

Never did I dream that some 13 years later I would be approaching my 9th marathon and it would be Boston.  I could truly only imagine that then.  Now, He has made it reality! As tears fill my eyes now, my emotion is real and raw.  God loves us so much He wants to show us things we can only imagine. He wants to help us live for Him in a way that glorifies Him and brings us joy! WOW!

Why me?? Why now??? Age? Wisdom? Faith? Commitment? Failure? Hard work? Hard ache? It is a combination of them all. I can honestly tell you that I do not want to do it any other way!!! He is the way. He is the truth.  He is the light! He is LIFE!!!!  The ups and downs of life are doable because He is ALWAYS by my side!!! He is a friend of mine!!! (another song playing now!)

The Lord knew 13+ years ago He would be leading on this journey.  He knew He would be paving the way for me to run and use running as a huge part of my testimony.  He knew I would have heartache and success along the way.  He knew I would be running Boston once and now twice.  He knew He would be taking a non-athlete to heights only HE could take reach.  I am in NO way a natural.  He gives me a drive that truly comes from Him.  He gives me the desire to finish what I started and finish well!

1 Corinthians 9.24

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way to get the prize.

2 Timothy 4.7

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

As Casting Crowns sings, “You are already there!”  He goes before us.  He is paving the way from Hopkinton to Boston. He knows what will happen on April 15. He is waiting!

Deuteronomy 31.8

the Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

He knows what April 15, 2013 holds.  He knows how He will use it for His glory.  My prayer is that I stay true to Him and give it right back to Him every step of the way!!!  This brings me comfort and confidence as I prepare to taper this week and physically and mentally prepare for the big day.

Over this next week, my goal is to immerse myself in Him and truly praise him over the 26 easy miles that lead me to HIS 26.2 on April 15.  Will you join me? Will you help me pray that He keeps me injury free, that He leads me every step of the way and that He helps me run for Him?  God is so good! All things truly work together.  Because of HIM I run! Running Blessed!!!

Romans 8.28

And we know that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love him,

who have been called according to HIS purpose.
