‘A man’s reach should exceed his grasp’…Robert Browning
One of Daddy Dale’s favorite sayings – daddy’s dad!
Today when dad woke up from a nap, after a long day of rehab, he reached for the bedpost to sit up on his own and with his eyes WIDE open he said, ‘a man’s reach should exceed his grasp.’ I told him he was waking up with quite the words of wisdom. Then he explained that was one of his dad’s favorite sayings and as he was reaching for the bedpost it popped into his mind.
When I googled the quote this was the explanation: Words from a poem by Robert Browning, suggesting that, to achieve anything worthwhile, a person should attempt even those things that may turn out to be impossible. This describes daddy’s work today. He is attempting even those things that may be impossible…
This video sums up the day. It was a hole in one! He hit it in the hole in all four sessions of therapy. His stitches came out from his original fall on November 3. He was able to shave and clean up because he was feeling rough. Now, to let him rest and do it again tomorrow.
Thankful and blessed for a day of putting one foot in front of the other in every therapy session. He is coming along by gradually passing one mailbox at a time.
