Footnote to yesterday’s God story – I forgot one very important part of the story yesterday. The icing on the cake or the cherry on top, as many would say, happened as we were getting in my new car to drive off. Our sales guy , ‘Ref’ said , “Have a blessed day!” not “Have a great day!” BUT “Have a blessed day!”
If you have ever left me a voicemail you know my recording says – “Have a blessed day!” This is something my dad – also a former ‘ref’ – says as well. We often talk about how saying this takes many people by surprise. How they are not used to hearing something different from the usual, have a great day. It has been a conversation starter for him and me as well. So, with that being said – when I heard those words, I said to Mike that comment seals the deal – this was meant to be! God is so good!
Thankful and blessed this Christmas Eve! Take time to hug your loved ones and tell them what they mean to you. We don’t know the future but we can be sure of the future. Why? Because on this night many years ago a babe came to earth to save us! His birth led to His death which led to our eternal victory! As in the photo above, our wrecked bodies will be turned in for a new one. We will have a lot of miles on this earth but because of Christ’s birth and death for us – we will be new again with eternal victory! What a precious picture this creates in my mind. The old and the new…again, this is God’s story! He wants all of us to be part of it!
Luke 2.8-14
8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 Andthis will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
