Do you make the most of ALL of your days…good and bad?

Marathon training is a lot like life – there will be good days and not-so-good days and when you train by feel, you make the most out of all of them. I found this on a Runner’s World blog. It is so true! I have had more good days in my training than not-so-good days. Thankfully!

My niece posted a scripture yesterday that goes along perfectly with this philosophy.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 6:7

As I am typing this, the song Before the Morning by Josh Wilson just started playing.

Do you wonder why you have to
Feel the things that hurt you
If there’s a God who loves you where is He now

Maybe there are things you can’t see
And all those things are happening
To bring a better ending

Someday somehow you’ll see you’ll see

Would you dare would you dare to believe
That you still have a reason to sing
Cause the pain that you’ve been feeling
It can’t compare to the joy that’s coming
So hold on you gotta wait for the light
Press on and just fight the good fight
Cause the pain that you’ve been feeling
It’s just the dark before the morning

My friend you know how this all ends
You know where you’re going
You just don’t know how you’ll get there
So say a prayer

And hold on cause there’s good for those who love God
But life is not a snapshot
It might take a little time but you’ll see the bigger picture

Once you feel the weight of glory
All your pain will fade to memory

It’s just the hurt before the healing
Oh the pain that you’ve been feeling
It’s just the dark before the morning

Another Godincidence…yes! There is a reason for the not-so-good days in running and in life. God is bringing us full circle to experience His eternal glory. Our pain will fade to memory once that happens. What is unseen in glory and in life. We have hope…we have life. With each step we learn more about what and how He wants us to live.

This past week the word “morning” keeps appearing in my reading. God knows I am not a morning person…I have to make myself one. I am better when I am. With these hot days…morning runs are better. It helps make the run a good day and not a not-so-good day. 🙂 And, when we start our morning with Him…it makes the day start a good day. It gives us His fuel – the Word – to prepare us for the daily battle we call life.

In the opening quote she talks about running by feel. Feel comes from the strict training, the long runs and the lessons learned. There are not many of us that would attempt to run a marathon without preparing properly. We read books, blogs, magazines, etc. to find out how to train the best way possible. We don’t want to go out there and fail or hurt ourselves. We want to be prepared!

We do this for a marathon/10k/5k but how many of us go out for this battle of life without preparing? Reading the Bible, praying, listening to Christian music and learning from Christian friends?

Feel for the Lord is the same…if we adhere to His training…study His word, pray daily, immerse ourselves in HIM…we will be in tune with His presence daily. We will be able to make adjustments when hard times and pain come around. We will be able to do it with Him receiving the glory. That is what we are here for!! To give Him glory in ALL we do…live and run…to make the most of ALL things.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 NIV84)

In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait in expectation. (Psalm 5:3 NIV84)

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. (Mark 1:35 NIV84)

It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, (Psalm 92:21-22)

Marathon training is a lot like life – there will be good days and not-so-good days and when you train by feel, you make the most out of all of them.

Let’s make the most of these glory days God has given us!!!

Running blessed!
